Responsibilities
- Oversee and direct the daily operations of the in-store pharmacy
- Manage and supervise pharmacy staff, including pharmacists and technicians
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local pharmacy laws and regulations
- Verify the accuracy and legality of prescriptions
- Dispense medications accurately and efficiently
- Provide medication therapy management services to patients
- Counsel patients on proper medication use and potential side effects
- Manage inventory levels and ensure proper storage of medications
- Maintain accurate records of prescriptions and dispensing activities
- Process third-party insurance claims and resolve billing issues
- Monitor department performance and implement strategies to improve efficiency
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to pharmacy staff
- Train and onboard new pharmacy employees
- Develop and implement pharmacy policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and patient privacy
- Participate in quality assurance programs to improve patient safety
- Resolve customer complaints and address concerns in a timely manner
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated patient care
- Stay up-to-date on new medications and pharmacy practices
- Attend professional development conferences and workshops
- Participate in community outreach events to promote pharmacy services
- Manage the pharmacy budget and control expenses
- Order and receive medications and supplies
- Monitor expiration dates and remove expired medications from inventory
- Maintain a clean and organized pharmacy environment
