Responsibilities
- Assisting pharmacists in filling and dispensing prescriptions
- Retrieving prescriptions for customers
- Ringing up customers at the counter
- Ordering and stocking drugs and supplies
- Managing over-the-counter merchandise
- Updating patient records in the computerized system
- Processing invoices
- Making accounting entries
- Answering phone calls and addressing customer inquiries
- Verifying patient information and insurance coverage
- Preparing medications for dispensing, including counting and labeling
- Compounding medications under the supervision of a pharmacist
- Maintaining a clean and organized work environment
- Following all safety and security procedures
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
- Assisting with inventory management
- Checking for outdated medications
- Assisting with the training of new pharmacy technicians
- Providing excellent customer service
- Resolving customer complaints and issues
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals
- Participating in continuing education programs
- Maintaining professional licensure and certifications
- Operating pharmacy equipment safely and efficiently
- Assisting with special projects as assigned
