Responsibilities
- Assisting pharmacists in dispensing prescriptions
- Greeting and assisting customers at the pharmacy counter
- Receiving and verifying prescription information
- Entering prescription data into the computer system
- Retrieving and counting medications
- Preparing prescription labels
- Packaging and labeling prescriptions
- Stocking medications and supplies
- Ordering medications and supplies
- Maintaining inventory control
- Processing insurance claims
- Contacting insurance companies for prior authorizations
- Answering phone calls and addressing customer inquiries
- Providing excellent customer service
- Maintaining a clean and organized work environment
- Following all pharmacy policies and procedures
- Adhering to HIPAA regulations
- Operating cash registers and processing payments
- Reconciling daily cash transactions
- Assisting with inventory audits
- Assisting with medication returns
- Assisting with compounding medications (under supervision)
- Assisting with quality assurance checks
