Responsibilities
- Assisting pharmacists in filling prescriptions
- Retrieving and labeling medications
- Counting and measuring medications accurately
- Operating pharmacy dispensing equipment
- Stocking and organizing medications
- Maintaining inventory control
- Answering phone calls and assisting customers with inquiries
- Providing excellent customer service
- Operating cash registers and processing payments
- Verifying patient information and insurance details
- Entering prescription data into computer systems
- Maintaining patient confidentiality
- Adhering to pharmacy policies and procedures
- Cleaning and maintaining pharmacy equipment and work areas
- Assisting with inventory management and ordering supplies
- Preparing and processing insurance claims
- Contacting physicians' offices for prescription refills
- Packaging and preparing medications for shipment
- Assisting with compounding medications under pharmacist supervision
- Monitoring medication storage conditions
- Assisting with quality control procedures
- Maintaining records of controlled substances
- Complying with all state and federal regulations
- Participating in continuing education and training programs
- Reporting any medication errors or discrepancies to the pharmacist
