Responsibilities
- Assisting pharmacists with dispensing medications
- Preparing prescription labels and filling prescriptions accurately
- Counting pills and measuring liquids and powders
- Packaging and labeling medications for dispensing
- Maintaining inventory of medications and supplies
- Ordering medications and supplies as needed
- Receiving and stocking medications and supplies
- Checking expiration dates on medications
- Removing expired medications from inventory
- Entering prescription information into the computer system
- Updating patient profiles with current information
- Processing insurance claims
- Answering phones and assisting customers with questions
- Providing excellent customer service
- Handling cash and operating a cash register
- Cleaning and maintaining the pharmacy area
- Following all safety and security procedures
- Adhering to all pharmacy laws and regulations
- Maintaining patient confidentiality
- Assisting with sterile compounding (if trained)
- Assisting with medication reconciliation
- Participating in quality assurance activities
