Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in filling and dispensing prescriptions accurately and efficiently
- Receive and verify prescription information from patients
- Enter prescription data into the pharmacy system accurately
- Prepare medications for dispensing, including counting, measuring, and labeling
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Manage inventory of medications and supplies
- Stock shelves and rotate medications to prevent expiration
- Assist with ordering medications and supplies
- Process invoices and make accounting entries
- Answer phone calls and assist customers with their inquiries
- Provide excellent customer service and address patient concerns
- Assist with insurance billing and claims processing
- Handle cash and operate point-of-sale (POS) systems
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
- Update patient records with accurate information
- Process returned medications and dispose of them properly
- Assist with quality assurance activities
- Monitor and maintain temperature logs for refrigerators and freezers
- Assist with sterile compounding (if applicable)
- Prepare sterile products according to established procedures
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures
- Report any medication errors or discrepancies immediately
- Participate in continuing education programs to maintain knowledge and skills
- Assist with training new pharmacy technicians
- Other duties as assigned by the pharmacist or pharmacy manager
