Responsibilities
- Dispensing prescription medications under the supervision of a registered pharmacist
- Assisting pharmacists in filling prescriptions accurately and efficiently
- Providing excellent customer service to patients
- Answering phone calls and addressing patient inquiries
- Operating cash registers and processing transactions
- Maintaining inventory of medications and supplies
- Ordering and receiving medications and supplies
- Checking expiration dates of medications
- Cleaning and organizing the pharmacy area
- Assisting with compounding medications
- Entering patient information into the computer system
- Verifying insurance information
- Contacting physicians' offices to clarify prescriptions
- Assisting with prior authorizations
- Counseling patients on medication usage
- Providing information on potential drug interactions
- Adhering to all pharmacy laws and regulations
- Maintaining patient confidentiality
- Assisting with quality assurance programs
- Participating in continuing education programs
- Assisting with inventory audits
- Performing other duties as assigned by the pharmacist
- Assisting in maintaining a clean and safe work environment
- Helping to train new pharmacy staff
- Contributing to a positive and supportive team environment
- Handling controlled substances according to regulations
- Processing third-party insurance claims
