Job Description

Content Optimization Engineer at Coursera (India)

Content Optimization Engineer at Coursera (India)

Coursera is seeking a talented and passionate Content Optimization Engineer to join our Hands-On Learning team in India. In this role, you will be responsible for optimizing and enhancing the quality of technical course content within the Computer Science, Data Science, IT, AI, and Engineering domains. Your primary goal will be to improve learner engagement, satisfaction, and retention by refining course content and guiding strategies for hands-on learning experiences. This is a full-time position focused on the APAC region.

At Coursera, we believe that everyone deserves access to world-class education. As a Content Optimization Engineer, you will play a critical role in making that vision a reality by ensuring that our technical courses are engaging, effective, and relevant to the needs of learners around the world. You'll collaborate with leading universities and industry partners to develop innovative learning experiences that empower learners to master the technical skills they need to advance their careers.

A Day in the Life of a Content Optimization Engineer

Imagine starting your day by analyzing data from recent A/B tests on a Python programming course. You notice that learners are struggling with a particular module on data structures. You decide to dive deeper, examining learner feedback and identifying specific areas where the content is unclear or confusing.

Next, you meet with a subject matter expert from a partner university to discuss potential improvements to the module. You brainstorm ideas for simplifying the content, adding more examples, and creating interactive exercises that will help learners grasp the concepts more effectively. You and the SME decide to restructure the module and add a hands-on coding assignment.

After the meeting, you spend time building a Docker container-based application that will serve as the environment for the new coding assignment. You ensure that the application is easy to use and provides learners with the tools they need to succeed. You also develop an autograder that will automatically assess learners' code and provide them with immediate feedback.

In the afternoon, you attend a meeting with the product team to discuss new features and tools for Coursera's technical platform. You share your insights on how these features can be used to improve the hands-on learning experience for learners. You also provide feedback on the design and usability of the platform.

Finally, you wrap up your day by reviewing the results of a recent content optimization project. You are thrilled to see that the changes you made have significantly improved learner engagement and satisfaction. You feel proud to be part of a team that is making a real difference in the lives of learners around the world.
