Senior Director, Security Engineering at Crusoe

Crusoe's mission is to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. We’re crafting the engine that powers a world where people can create ambitiously with AI — without sacrificing scale, speed, or sustainability.

Be a part of the AI revolution with sustainable technology at Crusoe. Here, you'll drive meaningful innovation, make a tangible impact, and join a team that’s setting the pace for responsible, transformative cloud infrastructure.

About the Role

Crusoe is seeking a technical and experienced Director of Security Engineering to define and drive the security strategy and roadmap for Crusoe Cloud. You will oversee product security, infrastructure security, and detection & response, while building and mentoring a world-class security engineering team. This is a hands-on leadership position, requiring a strong partner across the company to integrate security by design and ensure Crusoe Cloud maintains the highest levels of resilience and trust. You will foster an "engineering-first" security culture, where the team actively builds internal security tools and contributes security enhancements to internal software and capabilities that support our cloud platform.

What You'll Be Working On

  • Security Strategy & Architecture: Define and execute the vision and roadmap for the Security Engineering team with a focus on product security, infrastructure security, and detection engineering.
  • Team Leadership & Scaling: Recruit, develop, and mentor a world-class team of security engineers. You'll provide strong technical leadership while fostering a culture of collaboration, continual learning, innovation, and operational excellence.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner deeply with Product, Engineering, Legal, and Cloud Availability teams to embed a "security-first" culture. You'll ensure security is a core component of the entire product development lifecycle—from concept to launch.
  • Security Expertise: Serve as a security domain expert, providing guidance and communicating security risks and concepts to senior leadership, engineering teams, and other internal stakeholders.
  • AI Security Innovation: Champion and direct research into emerging threats against AI/ML systems. You'll ensure the team stays at the forefront of securing large-scale models and agentic systems, keeping our security posture ahead of the innovation curve.
  • Customer Trust & Advocacy: Act as a key security evangelist for the company. You'll engage directly with customers, partners, and auditors to build trust by clearly articulating our security posture, controls, and vision, turning security into a competitive advantage and a business enabler.
  • Security Operations & Incident Response: Lead and scale a global 24/7 detection and response function. You'll be responsible for deploying sophisticated automation, enhancing monitoring capabilities, and maturing incident response playbooks to handle complex threats in a distributed cloud environment.
