Senior Electrical Engineer, Load Interconnection at Crusoe

Crusoe Energy is on a mission to align the future of computing with the future of the planet. We aim to unlock stranded energy and deliver it to the energy-intensive computation that powers our world. As a pioneer in the sustainable energy and digital infrastructure space, we develop and operate infrastructure that converts wasted, otherwise-flared natural gas and curtailed renewable energy into electricity to power energy-intensive computation. Join our team of innovators, engineers, and problem-solvers dedicated to building a more sustainable and efficient energy future.

Role Overview

As a Senior Engineer, Load Interconnection at Crusoe, you will play a critical role in expanding our energy infrastructure and integrating our large-load facilities into the electric grid. You will be a key individual contributor, focusing on the complex challenges of connecting and optimizing our operations within the grid, including ERCOT, SPP, MISO, PJM etc.. This position requires deep technical expertise in power systems and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a rapidly evolving industry. This role is based on-site in either our Denver or San Francisco offices.

A Day in the Life

Each day as a Senior Engineer, Load Interconnection will bring new and exciting challenges. You might start your day by reviewing the latest grid integration studies for a new large-load facility. You'll then run technical power flow studies, ensuring the accuracy and sufficiency of technical data for interconnection applications within ERCOT and SPP markets. You'll manage transmission injection and perform load deliverability studies, ensuring compliance with regional criteria. A significant part of your day may involve collaborating with internal teams to understand project needs, drafting technical specifications, and supporting the business development team with technical aspects of grid integration proposals. You will also dedicate time to stay current with industry trends, possibly attending conferences or participating in professional development activities. Your role also includes dynamic modeling of large-load facilities using tools like PSS/e and PSCAD-EMTDC to meet the modeling requirements of ERCOT and SPP. This multifaceted role requires strong technical skills, excellent communication, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
