The Legal Counsel, Japan is responsible for providing commercial legal support across business units, the manufacturing site, and all functions in Japan. It includes active participation in company projects, offering critical insights through independent legal analysis, and handling employment and contract-related disputes, including judicial proceedings. Additionally, the role oversees compliance activities—particularly data privacy—ensuring alignment with corporate policies and local regulations, while serving as a key contact for compliance matters in the region.

This position reports to the General Counsel, APAC and is part of the Pall Legal and Compliance Team located in Tokyo, Japan and will be an on-site role.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Provide front-line legal counsel for commercial contracts, procurement, and sales agreements, ensuring efficient legal service delivery and compliance with local processes.
• Advise on commercial risks, manage disputes and litigation, and support intellectual property protection initiatives.
• Lead compliance activities, including data privacy, investigations, and training on key policies and procedures.
• Deliver targeted legal and compliance training, support due diligence efforts, and contribute to legal operations and strategic procurement practices.
• Assist in managing claims and litigation matters, improving processes through standard templates and tools, and coordinating with external counsel in Japan and Korea.

The essential requirements of the job include:

• 10 years’ post qualification working experiences in Japan.
• Prior in-house experience at a multinational corporation.
• Lawyer qualifications in Japan.
• Native level in Japanese and business level in English

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements: if applicable for role

• Ability to travel – Approximately one to two times a year

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Adhering to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) protocols in a corporate or industrial setting.
• Using Microsoft Office tools effectively in work and communicating fluently in English.
• Traveling for work, including visits to manufacturing sites in Japan and abroad.
