The Mechanical Engineer for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible the sustaining engineering for Mishima production.

This position is part of the Technical Operation group 1 located in Beckman coulter Mishima and will be on-site work. At Beckman Coulter, our vision is to relentlessly reimagine healthcare, one diagnosis at a time.

You will be a part of the Mechanical team 1 and report to the Toshiki Yamashita supervisor responsible for sustaining engineering for Mishima production.  If you thrive in a amazing role and want to work to build a world-class manufacturing engineering organization—read on.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Analysis of the causes of defects in the manufacturing process and countermeasures
  • Improvement of manufacturing processes (e.g., by introducing manufacturing unique tools)
  • Design modification associated with the defect countermeasures and improvements
  • Verification of design changes and preparation of verification reports
  • Modify the manufacturing working instruction, drawings, etc.
  • Responding to technical inquiries and participating in meetings for products jointly produced with overseas sites.
  • Transfer of manufacturing for new products
  • Feasibility study and implementation to apply automation tools to manufacturing processes
  • Other general tasks for maintaining production

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Graduated from a college or university graduate level
  • Skilled in 3D CAD (Solidworks)
  • Proficient in Japanese at a business level
  • Ability to communicate with related departments to advance business
  • Ability to respond flexibly to unexpected business situations
  • Requires expanded conceptual knowledge in own discipline and broadens capabilities
  • Solves problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions using technical experience and judgment and precedents
  • Bachelor’s degree in field with 2+ years exp. 

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:

  • Ability to come to office every day.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience design of medical equipment
  • Knowledge of strength, durability, and chemical resistance of metal and plastic materials
  • Experience with fluid (water) and piping design
  • Experience in designing and implementing unique tools(jigs) used in manufacturing processes
