The Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer I for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for designing, developing, troubleshooting Firmware or Embedded Software modules for laboratory medical device new product development. The incumbent practices best design practices and follow quality processes defined during development.

This position reports to the Head of Life Cycle Management & Group Manager and is part of the R&D Hardware/Systems Development team located in Bengaluru – BDC and will be an on-site role. 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Design, develop, and debug embedded firmware for medical diagnostic devices using C/C++ on microcontrollers (ARM, MSP430, etc.).
  • Integrate and test peripheral drivers (UART, SPI, I2C, GPIO, ADC, PWM) and support board bring-up.
  • Work with Electrical hardware and system engineers to validate hardware/software interfaces and co-develop board-level designs and support hardware bring-up.
  • Develop drivers, middleware, and real-time control logic for microcontrollers and SoCs.
  • Design robust firmware for high-reliability systems with support for diagnostics, logging, and fault recovery.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • B.E./B. Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
  • 5–7 years of experience in embedded system design for medical or industrial applications.
  • Expertise in C/C++, RTOS environments, and embedded debugging tools like oscilloscope, JTAG Debugger and Logic Analyzers.
  • Strong understanding of microcontroller and SoC architectures (ARM Cortex, TI, NXP, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with embedded protocols (SPI, I2C, CAN, USB) and hardware interface debugging.
  • Exposure to FPGA development, simulation, and integration with embedded systems.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience in medical device design & development or IVD instrumentation, such as clinical chemistry, immunoassay, hematology, urinalysis, molecular microbiology or flow cytometry systems
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles, Familiarity with regulatory and safety standards (IEC 62304, ISO 13485, FDA Class II).
  • Familiarity with Agile Software Development, Version control and Code Inspection (GIT, TFS, JIRA Etc.)
