As an experienced US Immigration Counsel, you will help companies address the challenges associated with managing today’s globally mobile workforce. Deel’s immigration team helps companies and their employees obtain the appropriate work authorisation in the United States and assist with the nonimmigrant to immigrant visa process. Our comprehensive range of U.S. business immigration services includes obtaining both immigrant (green card) and non-immigrant status (temporary work visas) as well as providing a range of U.S. immigration advisory services for employees and their employers.Specific responsibilities include:

  • Offer a consistent, industry-leading experience to Company customers by providing legal support (including consular support) and strategy from the initial kick-off call through petition filing

  • Direct, review, provide feedback, and approve the compiling and assembly of initial submissions, re-submissions, and RFE/NOID responses prepared by Immigration Specialists

  • Support and guide Company Immigration Specialists

  • Support the Company Sales team by providing legal consultations to prospects on legal strategy, timeline, and immigration options

  • Actively work on process improving and templating to help the Company develop additional product offerings

  • Draft petitions for new case types, as necessary

  • Work with Company Product and Engineering teams to further develop the technology which would support the mobility team

  • Stay abreast of changes in immigration laws, policies, and procedures, and ensure the immigration team is consistently updated

  • Conduct training sessions for internal teams, keeping them informed about the latest legal developments and best practices in business immigration

Skills and attributes

  • Utilize your technical legal and procedural understanding of U.S. business immigration law - including NIV and IV law, along with consular support - and effectively apply this knowledge to client situations.

  • Prepare, review, and submit non-immigrant and immigrant applications in a high-volume environment.

  • Manage client deliverables and expectations and demonstrate an ability to effectively execute on competing priorities.

  • Facilitate the legal movement of employees across borders for business travel.

  • Manage relationships with other attorneys, law clerks, and other client service team members.

  • Be an active member of our US immigration practice in implementing best practices.

Qualifications and requirements

  • JD along with admission to any U.S. state bar.

  • Minimum 3–5 years of U.S. business immigration experience, with a strong focus on high-volume filings, including E-2, O1, TN, E-3 and EB-1 and EB-2 IV filings

  • Ability to prepare and file high volume H1B and L1 (including blanket L1) petitions for corporate clients

  • Advise corporate clients on all aspects of the PERM Labor Certification process.

  • Prepare and file PERM applications (ETA 9089) with the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL).

  • Oversee and manage the entire PERM recruitment process, including:

  • Drafting and placing job orders and advertisements.

  • Reviewing and documenting recruitment results.

  • Ensuring full compliance with DOL regulations and timelines.

  • Prepare audit responses and supervise supervised recruitment processes if needed.

  • Draft and file Form I-140 petitions in the EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa categories.

  • Excellent managerial, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills.

  • Ability to provide not only technical legal expertise but also proactive and strategic business solutions that align with our clientele’s needs.

  • Ability to secure malpractice insurance

  • The ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic team-oriented environment.

  • Support Company Sales team by providing legal consultations to prospects on legal strategy timeline and immigration options
  • Actively work on process improving and templating to develop additional product offerings
  • Draft petitions for new case types as necessary
  • Work with Company Product and Engineering teams to develop technology supporting mobility team
  • Stay abreast of changes in immigration laws policies and procedures and update immigration team
  • Conduct training sessions for internal teams on latest legal developments and best practices in business immigration

Basic Qualifications

  • JD along with admission to any U.S. state bar
  • Minimum 3–5 years of U.S. business immigration experience with strong focus on high-volume filings including E-2 O1 TN E-3 and EB-1 EB-2 IV filings
  • Ability to prepare and file high volume H1B and L1 (including blanket L1) petitions for corporate clients
  • Advise corporate clients on all aspects of PERM Labor Certification process
  • Prepare and file PERM applications (ETA 9089) with U.S. Department of Labor (DOL)
  • Oversee and manage entire PERM recruitment process including drafting placing job orders and advertisements reviewing documenting recruitment results ensuring DOL compliance
  • Prepare audit responses and supervise supervised recruitment processes
  • Draft and file Form I-140 petitions in EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa categories
  • Ability to secure malpractice insurance

  • Direct review provide feedback and approve compiling and assembly of initial submissions re-submissions and RFE/NOID responses prepared by Immigration Specialists
