In this player-coach role within our COGS (Payroll Operations - EME) team, you'll lead a dynamic group of Payroll Specialists while hands-on processing payroll for multiple customers and entities. Your expertise will ensure timely, accurate, and compliant payroll delivery in Japan, where navigating local regulations is key to success. You'll drive process improvements through data analysis, implement robust policies and controls, and foster strong relationships with vendors and tax authorities. Summary
As Team Lead, Payroll Operations, you’ll take on a player-coach role, managing a team of Payroll Specialists while actively supporting payroll execution across multiple customers and entities. You will drive process improvements, maintain vendor and stakeholder relationships, and serve as a subject matter expert for payroll compliance and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll for assigned customers and provide guidance to team members as a subject matter expert

  • Lead a team of Payroll Specialists to ensure timely and compliant payroll delivery

  • Implement and maintain payroll policies, procedures, and controls

  • Analyze payroll data to identify areas for improvement and drive process enhancements

  • Deliver training and communication to internal teams to ensure understanding of payroll processes

  • Manage relationships with payroll vendors and tax authorities to ensure timely filings and payments

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience processing payroll for multiple entities

  • Strong working knowledge of local payroll and HR regulations

  • Experience with local payroll systems and vendor management

  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Experience working cross functionally

  • Bonus for People management experience
