The Delivery Relief Route Sales Driver position at PepsiCo in Erie, Pennsylvania, is a full-time opportunity for motivated individuals who thrive in fast-paced, hands-on environments. As a relief driver, you will fill in as the primary store-level salesperson, selling and delivering products to regular customers including convenience stores, gas stations, small supermarkets, drug stores, and restaurants. This role requires driving a Class A CDL-required delivery vehicle in various weather conditions, stocking shelves, building displays, and generating sales through exceptional customer service. With a disclosed pay rate of $22.90 per hour, this position offers stability and the chance to represent world-class brands daily. Ideal for those with trucking experience seeking reliable employment in the food and beverage industry.
In this role, you will be the face of PepsiCo at each customer location, ensuring products are delivered fresh and displays are eye-catching. Primary accountabilities include selling and executing all promotions to boost sales, servicing all scheduled customers by the end of your shift, and delivering products directly into stores. You will rotate products in backrooms and on shelves to maintain quality standards, comply with operating procedures such as scan-in/scan-out and following designated routes, and deliver top-tier customer service through communication, rapport building, and attentiveness to needs. Additionally, you will merchandise all accounts to local standards, establish positive relationships with primary contacts, build displays, set up promotional materials like pricing signs and banners, place future orders, generate invoices, and handle daily cash settlements. Physical demands involve pushing/pulling cases of 20-45 pounds repeatedly, kneeling, climbing, bending, reaching, and walking throughout the day.
Expect frequent interaction with store management as you oversee stocking in coolers, vending equipment, and backrooms. Your role ensures PepsiCo products are always available and prominently displayed, driving repeat business and customer loyalty.
To succeed as a Delivery Relief Route Sales Driver, candidates must meet basic qualifications: be 21 years or older, hold a valid U.S. CDL with Non-Excepted Interstate Status (specific notes for California locations do not apply here), pass a DOT Physical and DOT Road Test, pass physical capability testing if applicable, and adhere to all DOT Regulations. Helpful experience includes working in retail or grocery settings (understanding store operations, backroom inventory, stocking), sales experience (introducing products, launching promotions, establishing distribution points), operating CDL trucks (driving forwards/backwards, maneuvering in tight spaces), performing basic financial calculations (adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, profit margins), and using handheld computers for data entry and transactions.
Following a conditional offer, PepsiCo conducts background checks, drug screening, education verification, employment history review, and motor vehicle/driving history checks in compliance with applicable laws, including fair chance ordinances. Qualified applicants with criminal histories are considered per FCRA and local regulations. Regular, reliable, predictable attendance is essential.
PepsiCo offers competitive compensation starting at $22.90 per hour for this role, translating to an annual range with upside potential. Benefits include mileage reimbursement for positions using personal vehicles on sales routes, comprehensive health insurance, retirement savings plans, paid time off, and employee discounts on PepsiCo products. As an Equal Opportunity Employer, PepsiCo provides consideration without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, national origin, protected veteran status, or disability. Additional perks encompass training programs, wellness initiatives, and community involvement opportunities.
