Role Overview

The Director of Accounting is a strategic leadership position within Cardinal Health's Pharmaceutical and Specialty Solutions segment. Key Responsibilities

  • Effectively communicating complex technical accounting matters to non-finance stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Organizing, motivating, and developing a high-performing accounting team.
  • Making sophisticated judgments on accounting estimates, reserves, and materiality using risk-based approaches.
  • Forging relationships within and beyond your reporting lines to advance business objectives.
  • Championing initiatives such as mergers and acquisitions, tax projects, external audits, and ERP system rollouts.
  • Conducting in-depth research on US GAAP guidance, evaluating alternatives, and drafting authoritative memos.
  • Managing key business process outsourcing (BPO) partnerships for operational efficiency.
  • Driving process improvements to enhance accuracy and scalability.
  • Designing, implementing, and monitoring internal controls in line with PCAOB standards, while partnering with internal and external auditors.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Public accounting background from Big 4 or equivalent large firm, plus industry experience at a publicly traded entity.
  • 8+ years of people leadership, with strong proficiency in identifying and resolving technical accounting issues.

  • Expertise in US GAAP, particularly ASC 606 (Revenue from Contracts with Customers) and ASC 805 (Business Combinations).

  • Skill in drafting, interpreting, and applying accounting policies.
