Datadog, the leading cloud monitoring and security platform, is seeking a Director, Enterprise Sales - Public Sector (State, Local, Education/SLED) to lead our Japan Public Sector sales team in Tokyo. This strategic leadership role focuses on driving new business and expansion through the full sales cycle in Japan's State, Local, and Education sectors. As a key member of the Datadog sales organization, you'll provide mentorship, strategy, and hands-on guidance to a team of Enterprise Sales Executives targeting complex public sector opportunities.

Key Responsibilities at Datadog

  • Manage, hire, train, and ramp a high-performing team of Enterprise Sales Executives focused on new and expansion bookings within Japan's Public Sector.
  • Achieve aggressive annual Enterprise bookings quotas with precise monthly and quarterly targets.
  • Develop and manage key productivity metrics like deal size, win rate, forecast accuracy, and proactive sales cycle leadership.
  • Coach Sales Executives in building executive relationships with Named Enterprise accounts and navigating complex negotiations.
  • Shape and execute go-to-market strategies tailored to State, Local, and Education sectors in Japan.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Product, and Customer Success to create targeted messaging, collateral, and customer journey maps.
  • Lead weekly forecast meetings to ensure pipeline health and revenue predictability.
  • Support direct reports by participating in client/prospect meetings and engaging corporate resources as needed.
  • Drive revenue growth through public sector expertise and Datadog's cloud observability leadership.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Enterprise Sales Leadership: Experienced managing high-performing Enterprise Sales teams for B2B technology companies.
  • Public Sector Expertise: 5+ years of Enterprise sales experience specifically with public sector customers in Japan (State, Local, Education/SLED).
  • Complex Deal Mastery: Confident managing multi-stakeholder sales processes, value-based pricing, legal reviews, and procurement negotiations.
  • C-Level Selling: Proven knowledge selling technical solutions to IT executives and decision-makers.
  • Quota Achievement: Track record setting quotas and driving teams to exceed them consistently.
  • Coaching Passion: Successful individual contributor with complex closing experience, eager to mentor growing teams.
  • Travel Readiness: Willingness for regular travel to client sites across Japan using car, train, or air transportation.
