Key Responsibilities at Rivian

As Director, Privacy, you'll drive Rivian's privacy excellence. Key duties include:

• Lead and continuously scale Rivian’s privacy operations worldwide, partnering with corporate and operational leadership.
• Manage privacy policies, procedures, controls, documentation, and guidance alongside Privacy, Cybersecurity, and AI Legal teams.
• Oversee Privacy Steering Committee and participate in Third-Party Risk Management and Cybersecurity Committees.
• Update and maintain Record of Processing Activities (RoPA) for ongoing global regulatory compliance.
• Develop and deliver privacy training programs, including foundational, role-based modules, and awareness events.
• Promote data privacy culture through Rivian Privacy Champions and direct engagement with product teams.
• Lead privacy reviews for new/changed products/services, preparing PIAs/DPIAs with business teams.
• Advise on privacy disclosures and customer choices in Rivian vehicles, apps, and digital products.
• Manage privacy rights requests and tooling, coordinating with Customer Support for efficient inquiry handling.
• Build metrics, dashboards, and reporting for senior management; pursue AI-enhanced privacy operations.
• Drive privacy tools like Ketch, Databricks, and project systems for scalable operations.
• Partner cross-functionally with Cybersecurity, IT, Legal, and People teams as a trusted advisor on privacy risks.

Qualifications & Requirements

To succeed as Rivian Director, Privacy, you need:

• Minimum 10 years proven privacy operational experience in multinational, fast-growing organizations (tech/automotive preferred), focused on operations and risk—not just security or governance.
• Strong knowledge of global privacy laws like CCPA/CPRA, GDPR; ability to track emerging trends.
• Experience authoring/managing privacy policies, procedures, training, and compliance docs.
