Role Overview
Datadog, the leading monitoring and security platform for cloud applications, is seeking a Director, Product Management - Core Platforms to lead the internal platforms powering our global engineering organization. Based in New York, New York, this leadership role focuses on enabling Datadog engineers to build, scale, and operate products efficiently at hyper-scale.
The Director will lead 15+ Product Managers responsible for core data platforms (large-scale ingestion, transformation, storage), internal developer platforms, emerging AI-assisted development capabilities, and foundational compute/storage/networking services. This role owns the product vision, roadmap, and execution while partnering with senior engineering leadership to drive developer velocity, platform leverage, and cost-efficient scale.

Key Responsibilities at Datadog
- Drive Platform Adoption: Partner with engineering and product teams to ensure widespread adoption of shared platforms and Golden Paths, reducing duplication and accelerating delivery across Datadog's ecosystem.
- Improve Operational Efficiency: Enhance developer velocity, time-to-production, and operational efficiency throughout Datadog's global engineering organization.
- Drive Cost and Margin Efficiency: Optimize infrastructure costs, protect margins, and ensure sustainable unit economics by maximizing platform reuse and standardization.
- Define Success Metrics: Establish and track key platform metrics including adoption rates, internal toil reduction, time-to-production improvements, cost efficiency per workload, and percentage of new products built on shared primitives.
- Lead Organization Scaling: Build, mentor, and develop a multi-layer team of Product Managers and Group Product Managers, including org design, talent development, and succession planning.
- Own Platform Vision: Define product vision and roadmap for core data platforms, developer platforms, AI capabilities, and foundational infrastructure services.
- Technical Partnership: Collaborate deeply with senior engineering leaders to make informed tradeoffs and guide complex platform decisions in cloud-native environments.
- Stakeholder Influence: Communicate platform strategy effectively to align cross-functional teams and senior executives on priorities and outcomes.
