Role Overview

The Director, Public Affairs, Digital Platforms & AI Enablement, is a strategic leadership role reporting to the Executive Director, Public Affairs Omnichannel Strategy & Digital Transformation. Based in a hybrid model at Gilead's Foster City headquarters, this position shapes the digital ecosystem for Public Affairs. You'll modernize platforms for storytelling, publishing, and data-driven decisions, integrating AI responsibly while ensuring scalability, security, and compliance. Partner with Communications, IT, Data & Analytics, Legal, and vendors to elevate Gilead's global narrative.

Key Responsibilities

Own the Public Affairs digital platform roadmap, covering CMS, DAM, social publishing, analytics, workflows, search, and internal signage, aligned with KPIs. Chair governance for usage, data standards, integrations, and compliance including privacy, accessibility, and cybersecurity. Drive AI adoption across the content lifecycle—from briefing and authoring to tagging, QA, localization, distribution, and reporting—with robust policies and change management. Collaborate with IT and partners for secure, cost-efficient platforms, managing SLAs, RFPs, budgets, and vendor relationships. Define enterprise metadata, taxonomy, and tagging standards like schema.org/OGP, enabling precise measurement through event schemas and CDP/BI integrations. Advise on trends like headless architecture, composable tech, and AI via quarterly reviews and POCs.

Technical Leadership Focus

Lead platform performance, upgrades, migrations, and integrations. Ensure global readiness with multi-region hosting and localization. Hands-on with tools like AEM, Sitecore, Sprinklr, GA4, and more.

Qualifications & Requirements

Required: Bachelor’s degree plus 8+ years in digital platforms, marketing technology, or transformation; 3+ years leading cross-functional teams. Proven hands-on experience with at least two enterprise CMS/DAM (e.g., AEM Assets, Bynder) and analytics/BI stacks (e.g., GA4, BigQuery). Track record launching or migrating enterprise sites/social programs, plus AI/automation in regulated settings. Exceptional stakeholder/vendor management and strategic roadmap skills.

Preferred: Advanced degree; pharma/biotech experience; global ops exposure; familiarity with MLR workflows, Veeva PromoMats; certifications like Adobe AEM, GA4, AI-900, CIPP.
