Role Overview

The Director, Global Clinical Supply Chain position at Gilead Sciences in Parsippany, New Jersey, is a pivotal leadership role in our Global Supply Chain organization. This end-to-end clinical supply planning expert thrives in a fast-paced biopharmaceutical environment, collaborating with Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, Product Development & Manufacturing (PDM), Quality Assurance, Regulatory, and Project Management Office teams. You will develop supply chain strategies for complex programs, including late-phase trials, acquisitions, partnerships, and new modalities, managing investigational medicinal products (IMP) from protocol design through worldwide distribution and inventory control. This role demands GxP expertise, cross-functional leadership, and a drive for process improvements in a matrixed, global setting.

Key Responsibilities

As Director, Global Clinical Supply Chain, your impact will span strategic planning and execution:

• Serve as the clinical supply lead on PDM sub-teams for complex programs like late-phase developments, acquisitions, alliances, and new modalities.
• Lead development and execution of clinical supply strategies, including IMP management for global trials.
• Oversee clinical study planners in a matrix environment, facilitating issue identification, risk mitigation, resolution, and communication.
• Drive decision-making in cross-functional teams (ClinOps, PDM) aligned with long-term vision.
• Identify, manage, and mitigate supply risks at the program level.
• Drive process improvements, author SOPs, work instructions, and business policies.
• Accountable for clinical supply budgets, reviewing statements of work, purchase orders, and invoices.
• Influence program allocations at partners and contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs).
• Contribute to strategic initiatives like due diligence, global drug delivery, M&A integration, and External Advocacy Steering Team (EAST).

Operational Excellence

You will manage planning, development, implementation, administration, and budgeting for production planning, purchasing, material control, inventory control, and shipping/receiving functions, resolving issues to ensure seamless operations.

Qualifications & Requirements

To succeed, candidates need:

• 12+ years of relevant experience with a BS/BA; 10+ years with MA/MBA; or 8+ years with PhD.
• Expert working knowledge of clinical supply chain best practices in GxP environments.
• Strong cross-functional, multi-cultural communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to develop complex solutions with ingenuity, setting precedents for organizational decisions.
• Comprehensive understanding of supply chain financial aspects.
• Experience recommending policies and interpreting company guidelines.
