The Director, US Medical Affairs – HIV Treatment Strategy, is a pivotal leadership position within Gilead's US Medical Affairs team. Based in Foster City, California, or Parsippany, New Jersey, this role focuses on optimizing the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team's impact through strategic insight generation, field engagement, and advanced training. The Director shapes medical strategy by leveraging field insights to enhance scientific exchange and align with Gilead's commitment to advancing HIV treatment and care. This position offers the chance to influence HIV therapeutic advancements in a dynamic, patient-focused environment.
Lead the development and execution of strategic initiatives supporting the US HIV MSL team. Partner with Field Directors to align MSL activities with medical and scientific priorities. Drive field medical excellence using innovative tools, resources, and performance metrics.
Establish robust processes for collecting, analyzing, and communicating actionable insights from the field. Collaborate cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Commercial, and Global teams to inform strategic decisions. Present insights to senior leadership to guide data generation, evidence planning, and stakeholder engagement.
Create targeted medical training documents and design comprehensive onboarding and ongoing programs for MSLs, covering HIV science, therapeutic landscapes, and stakeholder engagement. Ensure MSLs are equipped with cutting-edge data, publications, and messaging aligned with Gilead's strategy.
Serve as a liaison between US and Global Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, and Commercial teams. Support medical communication plans, advisory boards, congress activities, and content development including slide decks, FAQs, and scientific narratives.
Candidates must hold a BS/BA with 12+ years of experience, MS/MA with 10+ years, PhD/PharmD with 8+ years, or MD with 4+ years. Preferred qualifications include an MD, DO, NP, PA, PharmD, or other advanced healthcare degree with 6+ years of relevant HIV industry or clinical experience. Deep Medical Affairs expertise, including field-based roles and strategic leadership, is essential. A profound understanding of the HIV therapeutic area, cross-functional initiative leadership, analytical skills for insight generation, and strong communication abilities are required. Experience in training design for scientific audiences and willingness to travel, including occasional weekends, are necessary.
