Role Overview

As a Senior Financial Analyst at Discord, you'll be the financial partner to our Product and Engineering leadership, driving headcount planning, expense forecasting, and resource allocation decisions. This role offers unique exposure to all facets of a hyper-growth tech company, with deep collaboration across Engineering, Product Management, Finance, Accounting, and Talent teams. The position requires residency in or relocation to the San Francisco Bay Area (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma counties). Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates passionate about gaming and financial excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Your day-to-day will involve high-impact financial analysis and cross-functional partnership:

• Establish robust financial planning processes for headcount planning, expense forecasting, and resource allocation across Engineering and Product teams.
• Collaborate with business partners to design and develop essential metrics, reports, analyses, and dashboards that drive planning decisions.
• Identify opportunities to enhance, automate, and scale forecasting and reporting tools, leveraging tools like Excel, SQL, and Looker.
• Conduct comprehensive cost/benefit analyses and clearly communicate key drivers to support multi-million dollar business decisions.
• Lead the coordination between Finance, Engineering, Product, Accounting, and Talent teams to ensure alignment on planning and forecasting.
• Build financial models that inform strategic investments and headcount decisions for rapidly scaling teams.
• Monitor budget performance, provide variance analysis, and recommend corrective actions.
• Present financial insights to senior leadership, translating complex data into actionable recommendations.
• Drive process improvements that enable Finance to scale with Discord's explosive growth.
• Support long-term strategic planning aligned with Discord's vision for the future of gaming.

Qualifications

We're seeking candidates with proven FP&A expertise and a passion for tech:

• 5+ years of relevant experience in FP&A, Accounting, or management consulting.
• Advanced Excel proficiency with demonstrated financial modeling expertise.
• SQL experience working with large datasets and building analytical queries.
• Looker or similar BI tool experience creating executive dashboards.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to turn data into business impact.
• Excellent communication skills to influence cross-functional stakeholders.
• Thrives in ambiguity within fast-paced, high-growth environments.
• Relationship-builder comfortable partnering at all organizational levels.
• Solid understanding of financial planning, accounting principles, and GAAP.
• Gaming enthusiasm is a plus but financial acumen is essential.

Salary & Benefits

Compensation: $156,000 - $175,000 base salary + equity + comprehensive benefits. Total compensation includes significant equity upside in a leading gaming platform.
