Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Financial Reporting and Technical Accountant at Discord, your impact will be immediate and far-reaching:

  • Financial Statement Mastery: Lead the preparation of consolidated financial statements, footnotes, and MD&A sections fully compliant with US GAAP (ASC topics) and SEC regulations (Reg S-K, S-X).
  • Technical Research Excellence: Perform in-depth accounting research using FASB Codification, SEC guidance, and Big 4 manuals to resolve novel issues.
  • Position Paper Authority: Author comprehensive memos documenting accounting conclusions for executive review and audit support.
  • Equity Compensation Guru: Own global stock-based compensation accounting for RSUs, options, and ESPP, including flux analysis and true-ups.
  • M&A Accounting Lead: Execute purchase price allocation, Day 1 accounting, and ongoing business combination reporting per ASC 805.
  • Impairment Specialist: Conduct quantitative and qualitative impairment tests for goodwill (ASC 350) and long-lived assets (ASC 360).
  • FX and Treasury Partner: Analyze foreign currency impacts, derivatives, and investment accounting collaborating with Treasury.
  • Audit Champion: Serve as primary liaison with external auditors (PwC/Deloitte/etc.) for smooth quarterly reviews and annual audits.
  • Policy Architect: Develop SOX-compliant policies and implement new FASB ASUs like ASU 2023-07 on segment reporting.

Qualifications & Requirements

To succeed in this role, you need:

  • Active CPA license (required)
  • 3+ years public company reporting or Big 4 audit experience with SEC filers
  • Deep US GAAP expertise across revenue (606), leases (842), business combos (805), etc.
  • Proven technical accounting research and position paper writing
  • Experience with complex equity comp and M&A accounting
  • Strong Excel proficiency (pivot tables, INDEX-MATCH, financial modeling)
  • Excellent communication for executive presentations and audit interactions
  • Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance; Master's/EA a plus
