Key Responsibilities

The Senior Technical Program Manager, Safety role demands hands-on leadership across diverse initiatives. Here's what you'll tackle daily:

• Leverage deep customer empathy to architect and run Discord's comprehensive Safety compliance program, ensuring regulatory adherence without compromising user experience.
• Design holistic ownership frameworks for codebases, products, and operational programs, enabling rapid response to compliance evolutions.
• Collaborate intimately with Product Managers, Platform Compliance experts, Safety Engineering teams, and other engineering groups to deploy technical solutions meeting stringent requirements.
• Partner strategically with Safety leadership to pinpoint high-impact programs that elevate user safety and platform experience.
• Orchestrate multiple complex projects simultaneously, expertly navigating competing timelines, resource allocations, and stakeholder expectations.
• Integrate with Trust Operations to enhance existing workflows and implement transformative compliance changes.
• Drive programs from ideation through execution, establishing robust metrics frameworks to quantify impact, growth trajectories, and ROI.
• Apply first-principles thinking to decompose intricate safety challenges into executable components, ensuring steady progress over perfectionism.
• Facilitate executive-level communication on program status, risks, achievements, and strategic recommendations.
• Mentor emerging TPM talent and contribute to Discord's Technical Program Management best practices.

Qualifications

We're looking for proven leaders with deep safety program experience at consumer-scale companies. Essential qualifications include:

• 5+ years in Technical Product/Program Management, Safety Engineering, or Safety TPM roles at similarly-scaled organizations.
• Hands-on experience building Safety programs encompassing Moderation, Detection systems, Age Verification, and related domains.
• Proven track record collaborating with Engineering, Product, and Trust & Safety executives to align and execute complex programs.
• Expertise in technical program management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, OKRs, etc.) with demonstrated delivery success.
• Strong history advancing technical initiatives from concept to production, backed by compelling metrics and impact stories.
• Exceptional problem-solving: ability to dissect complex challenges and drive pragmatic, iterative progress.
• Technical fluency enabling effective partnership with engineering teams on compliance solutions.
• Customer-obsessed mindset balancing safety requirements with business and user needs.
