Job Description

Job Summary:

KGO-TV/ABC7, the ABC-owned television station in San Francisco, also serving Oakland and San Jose is seeking an accredited meteorologist or experienced weather anchor to produce and present daily weather forecasts for newscasts, on digital and social platforms. The meteorologist/weather anchor will use weather software systems to create and present forecasts for various newscasts. This employee will also create forecasts for digital and social platforms and for the KGO-TV/ABC7 24/7 live stream.

This is a freelance/daily hire position.  Shifts will be weekday or weekend mornings or evenings, depending on staff vacations. 

This position is covered under SAG-AFTRA – KGO-TV Newspersons Agreement.

The Pay Rate for this role is: $415/day

Responsibilities:

  • Producing and presenting on-air forecasts

  • Digital- writing and building graphics for forecasts, social media

Basic Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the San Francisco Bay Area

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience reporting weather on-air.

  • Candidates should have a solid resume reel showing superior on-camera presentation.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Meteorology degree

Preferred Certification:

  • AMS Seal


The pay rate for this role in San Francisco, CA is $415 per day.
