Job Summary:

About the Role & Team

Landscape Architect Sr is a professionally licensed position responsible for site analysis, planning, and area development design for a specific theme park attraction or land project.  This work includes design and detailing of exterior improvements such as hardscape, garden structures, landforms and grading, planting, irrigation, water features, and other specialty construction.

The Landscape Architect Sr will report to the Landscape Architecture Studio Executive.

This is a Project Hire / Internal Assignment role.

What You Will Do

  • Perform landscape architectural duties under the direction of the project lead landscape architect for design and delivery of assigned projects
  • Support development of project goals/objectives through development of
  • Actively collaborate with project leaders and stakeholders to produce designs which satisfy creative intent and operational programming
  • Develop landscape architectural project work at all stages of assigned project lifecycle from concept, feasibility or schematic design through the preparation of construction documentation in accordance with established departmental and divisional quality standards
  • Ensure that the area development intent is achieved by successfully integrating landscape architectural design with scopes of allied disciplines such as infrastructure, architecture, Show/Ride systems, entertainment, grading/drainage, lighting, graphics, structural engineering, irrigation, etc.
  • Prepare specific deliverables including, but not limited to base sheets, hardscape plans, planting designs, visual intrusion studies, material schedules, etc. Ensures adherence to department/divisional Standards of Practice
  • May lead a small team of landscape architects and designers in the production of construction documents for attraction(s) of medium complexity through all phases of design
  • Answer construction bid period questions and respond to and resolve field issues and requests for information
  • Perform construction observation and contractor engagement for the purpose of quality assurance

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Six or more years in landscape architecture
  • A minimum of three years managing a team of landscape architects and designers in the production of contract documents for construction
  • Construction phase experience including the submittal/shop drawing review process and on-site field inspections
  • Working knowledge and experience in the use of plant and hardscape materials and products for thematic applications
  • Strong command of AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Land F/X, and Rhino
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign for digital illustration and documentation
  • Practical experience with BIM tools, such as Autodesk BIM360 and Navisworks
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Demonstrated thoughtful design, artistic skills and professional judgment in solving complex area development problems
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Education

  • A BLA/BSLA degree from an accredited program
  • An advanced degree in landscape architecture is desirable
  • U.S. professional license credential

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $115,500 to $154,900 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
