Job Description

Job Summary:

Pixar is seeking a motivated intern to join our Systems department for Summer 2026. This intern will be part of the SCALE (Server, Cloud, and Linux Engineering) team, where they will focus on next-generation operational tools that strategically integrate AI technologies where they add genuine value. As part of the collaborative Systems department, SCALE works closely with other teams to ensure Pixarians have the tools to continue to push the boundaries of animation. You'll tackle meaningful technical challenges while contributing directly to the films that inspire millions. Our team offers the perfect blend of autonomy and collaboration. You'll have the freedom to innovate in the Linux and AI space while working closely with other specialized systems teams, forming a supportive ecosystem that keeps Pixar's technology running in a culture where technical innovation and creative expression go hand in hand. You’ll join a team that values creative problem-solving, continuous learning, and elegant solutions to complex challenges.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and enhance operational tools that automate Systems tasks, improve monitoring, and optimize infrastructure efficiency

  • Explore opportunities to integrate AI/ML capabilities into existing tools under mentorship from senior engineers.

  • Collaborate with Systems teams to support seamless filmmaking workflows.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent development language skills including Python & Shell

  • Experience with AI/ML frameworks and large language models (LLMs)

  • Comfortable working in a UNIX/Linux environment

  • Ability to learn quickly and work both independently and collaboratively

Bonus skills:

  • Working knowledge of containerization/cloud technologies (Podman/Docker, Kubernetes, AWS)

  • Experience with infrastructure automation tools or configuration management (Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef)

  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, Splunk)

  • Experience with distributed systems, HPC environments, or render farm technologies

  • Interest in film, animation, VFX, or digital content creation pipelines

Eligibility:

  • Minimally a junior in college working towards a degree or certificate in computer science, engineering, or other area of relevant study

  • Recent graduates who are within the first year after graduation are eligible to apply

  • You already possess the legal right to work in the United States

  • This is a full-time position. You must be available to work on-site Mon 6.1.26 - Fri 8.21.26
