Job Description

Job Summary:

Pixar is offering an exciting opportunity geared towards students passionate about pursuing a career as a Technical Director (TD) on animated feature films. As a Global Technology Technical Director (GT TD) you will work closely with other TDs to write software that improves workflow and provides film-specific functionality for other departments, including lighting and animation. We are looking for students who possess strong technical skills and a real passion for building high-end visual imagery in support of the story telling process.

 

 Qualifications:

  • You possess programming skills in C/C++ and/or a scripting language such as Python

  • Your educational background helps you demonstrate an understanding of physical motion, weight, balance, lighting, texture, and form

  • You have experience using 3D software packages like Houdini, Maya, Katana, RenderMan, etc

  • Experience using Unix/Linux systems

  • A demo reel demonstrating your sense of aesthetic preferred

Eligibility:

Traditional Academic Paths: 

  • Minimally a junior in college working towards a BS or MS in computer science, computer graphics, digital art or a related technical field

  • Recent grads who are within the first year post graduation are eligible to apply

  • You already possess the legal right to work in the United States

  • This is a full-time position. You must be available to work on-site Mon 6.1.26 - Fri 8.21.26

Less Traditional Professional Paths:

  • Career Transition: Those with a minimum of 5 years post-college graduation and whose professional experiences in a work/academic environment differ vastly from animation, VFX, gaming, and other computer graphics-focused industries

  • Armed Forces: Those who have served in the armed forces and are in a retraining program

  • Home Schooled: Those who are self-taught via an alternative educational path
