Forward-Deployed AI Engineer

full-timePosted: Nov 24, 2025

Job Description

Forward-Deployed AI Engineer

Location: United States

Department: Sales & Partnerships

Work Mode: Remote

About the Role

Docusign brings agreements to life. Over 1.5 million customers and more than a billion people in over 180 countries use Docusign solutions to accelerate business processes and simplify lives through intelligent agreement management. Docusign unleashes business-critical data trapped inside documents, connecting it to systems of record via the #1 platform in e-signature and contract lifecycle management (CLM). Join our innovation-driven culture where forward-thinking engineers like you drive real-world impact. As a Forward-Deployed AI Engineer (FDE) in the PreSales team, you’ll be the hands-on technical owner embedded with go-to-market teams, transforming customer goals into production-ready, AI-assisted agreement workflows. You’ll design, build, and ship applications integrating Docusign’s Intelligent Agreement Management (IAM) platform and Agreement Data Layer with enterprise stacks across global regions—delivering measurable value in weeks, not months. This individual contributor role reports to the Senior Director, Solution Architecture, in a remote designation with up to 50% travel for client engagements. You’ll embed on-site or virtually to iterate solutions in live environments, automate workflows via CI/CD, and engineer secure integrations that handle real-time data updates. Collaborating with pods, you’ll translate requirements into designs, share field insights to evolve Docusign’s IAM and AI capabilities, and foster an experimentation mindset to build reusable assets. Thrive in our equal-opportunity culture committed to diversity, belonging, and making the world more agreeable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and deploy production-ready applications spanning backend services, data-orchestration pipelines, and intuitive front-end UIs for AI-assisted agreement workflows
  • Embed with customers—on-site or virtually—to adapt and iterate solutions in live environments, integrating legacy systems with DocuSign’s IAM platform
  • Apply an 'author of experimentation' mindset: build concepts, iterate on feedback, and create reusable libraries to accelerate future DocuSign engagements
  • Automate agreement workflows via CI/CD pipelines, leveraging DocuSign’s workflow builder and App Center connectors to external enterprise systems
  • Ensure data models and pipelines handle rapidly decaying customer information by enabling real-time agreement updates and data extraction
  • Work closely with go-to-market pods to translate customer requirements into technical designs, manage execution, and deliver measurable value in weeks
  • Share field-tested insights with DocuSign’s product teams to shape the IAM platform, e-signature innovations, and AI models
  • Engineer solutions to enterprise-grade security and privacy standards, ensuring compliant integrations for customer backend and frontend systems
  • Navigate ambiguity expeditiously while connecting DocuSign’s Agreement Data Layer with global enterprise technical stacks
  • Drive innovation in intelligent agreement management by unleashing business-critical data trapped in documents

Required Qualifications

  • 15+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 4 years in customer-facing or embedded roles
  • Proficiency across backend (e.g., Python, Node.js, Java, PHP), frontend (e.g., React, Angular), and API design, with hands-on experience building AI-native systems in production
  • Deep experience with LLM models, tooling, and generative-AI frameworks (e.g., LangChain, RAG pipelines, vector search, prompt chaining)
  • Strong DevOps skills including CI/CD, containerization, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% for client engagements
  • Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders, prioritize user value, and drive iterative delivery
  • Experience engineering to enterprise-grade security and privacy requirements for compliant integrations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience integrating AI into SaaS platforms (e.g., DocuSign, Microsoft, SAP, Google, ServiceNow, or Salesforce) or deploying AI solutions in enterprise companies
  • Familiarity with DocuSign’s Intelligent Agreement Management (IAM) platform and its flagship e-signature and CLM products
  • Hands-on experience with DocuSign’s Agreement Data Layer and App Center connectors
  • Background in accelerating agreement workflows and extracting business-critical data from documents

Required Skills

  • Backend development (Python, Node.js, Java, PHP)
  • Frontend development (React, Angular)
  • API design and integration
  • LLM models and generative AI frameworks (LangChain, RAG, vector search, prompt chaining)
  • DevOps: CI/CD, containerization, IaC
  • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Customer-facing engineering and embedded roles
  • Data orchestration and real-time pipelines
  • Enterprise security and privacy compliance

  • Iterative experimentation and rapid prototyping
  • Stakeholder communication (technical/non-technical)
  • Problem-solving in ambiguous environments
  • Travel readiness (up to 50%)
  • User-value prioritization and agile delivery

Benefits
