We are seeking a passionate, talented Senior Machine Learning Engineer (individual contributor reporting to the Director, Software Engineering) to build industry-leading solutions leveraging text mining, deep learning, content understanding, and document processing. You will prototype ML models that deliver personalized, automated experiences for e-signature and CLM, focusing on NLP for contractual/legal documents. This hybrid role (minimum 2 days/week in-office) offers the chance to innovate at the forefront of agreement management technology. In this role, you will collaborate with our ML team to research emerging NLP/ML/DL methods, apply them to tasks like NER, sentiment analysis, and clause recognition (including multilingual support for Russian, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese), and deploy production-ready models. Partnering with Product Management, you'll translate requirements into scalable metrics, enhancing DocuSign's platform to handle global agreements with precision and intelligence. Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the ML team to research, test, and evaluate emerging NLP/ML/DL methods for contractual and legal document processing in DocuSign's Intelligent Agreement Management platform
• Apply advanced NLP techniques to maintain and extend rule-based, supervised, and unsupervised methods for e-signature and CLM solutions
• Develop and apply ML/DL algorithms to key NLP tasks including Named Entity Recognition, POS tagging, Parsing, Sentiment Analysis, Clustering, and text prediction
• Prototype innovative machine learning models to enable more personalized and automated customer experiences in agreement management
• Gain deep understanding of DocuSign's product architecture, technologies, and end-to-end software development processes
• Understand, assist, and improve existing training data maintenance and enrichment processes for ML models
• Work within the Machine Learning team to deploy models to production using scalable ML methods and technologies
• Partner closely with Product Management to translate product requirements into robust, customer-agnostic ML success metrics
• Leverage text mining, deep learning, content understanding, and document processing to unlock business-critical data from agreements
• Contribute to state-of-the-art solutions that accelerate e-signature adoption and simplify contract lifecycle management globally

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in designing, developing, deploying, and monitoring machine learning and deep learning solutions
• Strong experience programming in Python with ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, spaCy, or scikit-learn
• Programming experience in one or more of Python, C#, Java, or C/C++
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Physics, Statistics, Econometrics, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, or equivalent computational field
• Proven experience extracting, cleansing, and manipulating large, diverse structured and unstructured datasets
• Deep understanding of Machine Learning concepts including Training, Validation, Testing, Precision/Recall, and Bias/Variance tradeoff
• Experience in end-to-end software development processes, including code and release management

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience developing and deploying sequence-based Deep Learning models
• Hands-on experience with latest NLP large-scale models like GPT-2, BERT, or XLNet
• Experience in Computer Vision applications
• Expertise in language-agnostic contract clause recognition, including Cyrillic (Russian) and double-byte languages (Japanese, Korean, Chinese)
• Strong commitment to staying ahead of industry trends with continuous learning in ML/NLP technologies
