As a Software Engineer on the Authentication Platform team, you will power core authentication experiences including login, signup, passkey, SSO, and two-step verification, ensuring secure access to DocuSign's innovative platform. You'll work closely with product, design, and backend engineers to build high-quality web applications that enhance reliability, performance, and user delight for millions of users worldwide. In this individual contributor role reporting to the Software Engineering Manager, you'll modernize the authentication frontend stack with React, TypeScript, and Webpack, while developing backend services and APIs for frictionless, phishing-resistant login flows. Take strong ownership of features from design to production, collaborating across teams to drive meaningful product and security impact in DocuSign's agile, innovation-driven culture. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain secure, performant, and user-friendly authentication experiences across web and mobile web for DocuSign's e-signature platform
  • Build modern frontend applications using React, TypeScript, Webpack, and related frameworks to power intelligent agreement management
  • Collaborate with backend engineers to design and consume RESTful and GraphQL APIs that drive the authentication platform
  • Apply strong ownership to drive features end-to-end—from technical design and implementation to monitoring and production support
  • Partner with design and product teams to ensure accessibility, responsiveness, and usability across devices and browsers
  • Contribute to reusable UI components, shared libraries, and frontend build pipelines to improve developer efficiency
  • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and design sessions to ensure code quality, scalability, and security
  • Learn and apply best practices in authentication, security, and frontend architecture continuously
  • Mentor peers and contribute to a collaborative, inclusive engineering culture at DocuSign
  • Integrate authentication flows that enhance security for millions of users in DocuSign's global ecosystem

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience
  • 5+ years of professional experience developing and maintaining production web applications
  • Experience with React, JavaScript/TypeScript, Webpack, and modern frontend development tools
  • Experience with backend technologies and service integration (e.g., Node.js, .NET, or similar frameworks)
  • Experience with RESTful API design, data fetching, and state management patterns
  • Experience with authentication and authorization standards (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, etc)
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of features and deliver high-quality, maintainable code in an agile environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building authentication or identity-related features (login, MFA, SSO, passkey, etc)
  • Experience with cloud environments such as Azure, AWS, or GCP
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, feature flagging, and automated testing frameworks
  • Familiarity with performance monitoring, logging, and telemetry tools
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
