In this people manager role reporting to the Director, Software Engineering, you will oversee a team of talented engineers building the foundational systems that power DocuSign's global engineering organization. Your team ensures developers have robust tools, platforms, and environments to deliver high-quality e-signature and CLM software quickly and reliably. You will collaborate with engineering teams company-wide to architect solutions enhancing developer productivity, CI/CD capabilities, and workflows, with a relentless focus on reliability, security, and performance to support our innovative culture. Key responsibilities include leading and mentoring your team, driving core system design for build/test/deployment, partnering on technical priorities, championing best practices, optimizing CI/CD for faster releases, and fostering innovation and ownership. This hybrid role (minimum 2 days/week in-office) demands hands-on expertise in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, and security to shape platforms that enable DocuSign's mission of making the world more agreeable. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of software engineers focused on developer platform and infrastructure
  • Drive the design, development, and optimization of core systems supporting build, test, deployment, and developer productivity for DocuSign's Intelligent Agreement Management platform
  • Partner with architects and engineering leaders to identify developer and infrastructure needs, setting clear technical priorities
  • Champion reliability, scalability, and security best practices across all platform services powering e-signature and CLM solutions
  • Oversee CI/CD pipeline improvements to accelerate release cycles, reduce deployment friction, and enable faster innovation
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering teams to ensure platform solutions evolve with DocuSign's global engineering needs
  • Foster a culture of innovation, ownership, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence within the team
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting strategies to maintain high availability for mission-critical agreement management systems
  • Promote test-driven development and DevOps practices to deliver reliable, secure infrastructure for over 1.5 million customers
  • Shape the technical direction of developer platforms that empower DocuSign engineers to build world-class e-signature experiences

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of combined software development and management experience across at least 3 different programming languages
  • 8+ years of hands-on software development experience as an individual contributor
  • Proven experience implementing DevOps practices and tools, including monitoring, logging, and alerting, with a strong focus on reliability and resilience
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions), containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)
  • Experience in test-driven development techniques using frameworks like nUnit, xUnit, MsTest, and others
  • Demonstrated experience with security best practices and compliance standards for infrastructure and application deployment
  • Ability to lead and manage engineering teams in a fast-paced, innovative environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with proven ability to troubleshoot complex systems and collaborate in high-pressure situations
  • Strong people management skills, including coaching, mentoring, and developing technical teams
  • Experience developing developer-facing front-end applications
