Reporting to the Manager for Medium Voltage Systems, you will embody the highest level of authority and expertise, driving innovation in distribution grids, transformers, and IEC-compliant technologies while upholding Eaton's ethical business practices and sustainability mission. As a pivotal leader, you will spearhead research and technology development projects, ensuring technical excellence, milestone achievement, and team mentorship. Lead value propositions, government proposals, and IP generation to propel Eaton's leadership in power grid resilience, protection, control, and substation automation. Foster strategic partnerships, represent Eaton in international forums like IEC, IEEE, and CIRED, and contribute to scientific publications that shape industry standards for sustainable energy infrastructures. Your extensive experience in power grid operations, modeling, simulation, and hands-on OT testing will enable you to align cutting-edge advancements with Eaton's core values of safety, efficiency, and environmental responsibility. Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the highest level domain expert and leader in research, technology development and demonstration for Medium Voltage standards and applications
  • Perform as project lead ensuring technical flow, tracking milestones, coordinating and mentoring project team members
  • Lead and contribute to value proposition development for technical projects and programs aligned with Eaton's power management and sustainability goals
  • Lead government proposal preparation and project execution to advance ethical, sustainable grid solutions
  • Foster business relationships by presenting ideas, participating in ideation events, acquiring resources and funding
  • Cultivate external partnerships and align with outside technological advancements in power distribution
  • Develop as an industry-recognized SME through participation in conferences, seminars, standard bodies, and consortium meetings to drive Eaton’s innovation leadership
  • Lead IP generation through authoring/co-authoring disclosures and patents
  • Mentor junior staff, coordinate with other Eaton divisions, and participate in international committees like IEC, IEEE, NEN, VDE
  • Represent Eaton at international symposia and conferences, delivering lectures and writing scientific publications

Required Qualifications

  • PhD or Master’s of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited institution
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in researching, developing and designing technology solutions
  • Extensive knowledge of distribution grids, electrical infrastructures, IEC MV assembly products, transformers, applications, codes and standards
  • Hands-on experience with field or lab testing of Operational Technologies within power distribution grids, including protection relays, grid automation controllers and systems
  • Experience in proposal development and government funded programs (e.g., DoE, DoD, and other governmental agencies)
  • Strong and effective communication skills, fluent in written and oral English
  • Readiness to travel up to 10% of working time in the EMEA region

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated strong experience in power grid protection & control, power grid components, power grid resilience, grid edge control, substation automation and IEC standards
  • Combined academic and industry expertise in power grid operation, control, modeling and simulation
