About the Role
Join eBay's Product Knowledge Science team as a Machine Learning Engineering TL/Architect (T27) in Bengaluru, India, at the heart of redefining global ecommerce. This role leads the creation and scaling of eBay's vast Product Knowledge system, integrating listings, transactions, products, and knowledge graphs to power innovative marketplace experiences for millions of buyers and sellers across 190 markets. Tackle complex challenges like Image Quality scoring, Automatic Taxonomy Improvement, Entity Resolution, and Conflict Resolution to deliver customer-delighting features in eBay's tech-driven, customer-centric transformation.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Management and Product Management to shape department vision and roadmap
- Design, deliver, and maintain significant features in data pipelines, ML processing, and service infrastructure
- Seek scientifically valid solutions delivering real value to eBay customers in ecommerce marketplace
- Measure output and impact to learn and improve over time
- Collaborate with Operations to ensure quality of human-labeled data
- Build Machine Learning models and data pipelines for insightful ecommerce solutions
- Mentor junior peers, review work, and provide frequent feedback
- Promote scientific rigor, code quality, and craftsmanship within the team
- Present key technical and novel research at public forums and conferences
- Help interview and hire exceptional teammates
Required Qualifications
- BE/B.Tech with 10+ years of relevant industry experience
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent with 7+ years in Applied Machine Learning
- Industrial experience with classification, regression, NLP, clustering, Deep Learning/Neural Networks, or Reinforcement Learning
- Significant experience in production-grade coding in Python or Java
- Experience with Big Data processing frameworks like Hadoop, SQL, Spark
- Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills
- Thought leadership and mentoring skills
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 or more related publications/patents in quality conferences or journals
- Open source tool building/commits to popular projects
- Experience with Language models
- Experience in Knowledge Graph building
- Proven track record in e-commerce data systems or marketplace ML applications
