About the Role

As a Member of Technical Staff 1 (MTS 1), Software Engineer (Fullstack) at eBay in Bengaluru, you'll drive the evolution of our global ecommerce platform that connects millions of buyers and sellers across 190+ markets. This role focuses on building scalable, data-driven web applications and APIs that power authentic trading experiences, leveraging GraphQL/REST, Java/NodeJS backends, React/Angular frontends, and advanced data stores like RDBMS, NoSQL, and ElasticSearch. With 6+ years of experience and proven leadership, you'll own subsystems in large domains, ensuring high-velocity delivery through Agile, TDD, and CI/CD in our fast-paced environment. You'll take full ownership of the software lifecycle—from translating requirements into extensible designs to deployment, observability, and 24/7 on-call support for our always-on marketplace. Lead small to mid-size projects independently, mentor teams via code reviews and guidance, and collaborate cross-functionally to innovate solutions that enhance engineering velocity and feature flexibility. Key Responsibilities

• Translate business requirements into clean, efficient, extensible, and maintainable code for eBay's ecommerce platform
• Own subsystems within large domains, managing full software lifecycle from design to deployment and monitoring
• Influence technical decisions and guide team members toward optimal solutions for marketplace scalability
• Design flexibility into features prone to change to boost engineering velocity in fast-paced ecommerce environment
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to innovate solutions aligning with eBay's development principles
• Manage project features by breaking them into sub-tasks, resolving issues, and ensuring efficient execution
• Provide technical guidance, code reviews, coaching, and mentorship to immediate and extended teams
• Identify system gaps, propose solutions, build engineering roadmaps, and drive resolutions for platform reliability
• Lead improvements in E2E testing quality and delivery velocity for continuous feature releases
• Handle engineering support, releases, and on-call duties for eBay's always-on 24/7 global marketplace
• Practice evidence-centered design to ensure testable, high-quality features enhancing buyer-seller experiences

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
• 6+ years of experience building large-scale, distributed web platforms and APIs
• 2+ years as a lead developer responsible for specific functional areas
• Experience leading small to mid-size projects independently
• Experience designing GraphQL/RESTful APIs and server-side components in Java, NodeJS or similar
• Proficiency in modern JavaScript frameworks like React or Angular for web applications
• Hands-on experience with data-driven applications using RDBMS, NoSQL, and ElasticSearch
• Proven ability to deliver in fast-paced environments with Agile, TDD, and CI/CD practices

• Experience in e-commerce or marketplace platforms handling high-volume transactions
• Leadership in end-to-end software lifecycle including observability and 24/7 on-call support
• Background in building scalable systems for global markets across 190+ countries
