About the Role

Join eBay's SEO Platforms team as an MTS2 Services Engineer in Bengaluru, where you'll architect backend services powering search engine optimization for one of the world's largest e-commerce marketplaces. With hundreds of millions of products listed globally, you'll design scalable APIs and data pipelines that ensure eBay pages rank highly on Google, Bing, and beyond, driving buyer traffic and economic opportunity across 190+ markets. Tackle unique challenges at eBay's massive scale, integrating taxonomy, metadata, and linking services to create seamless shopping experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain backend services managing full lifecycle of SEO pages for eBay's global marketplace
• Build and expose robust APIs handling shopping page data for frontend, SEO crawlers, and analytics
• Integrate SEO metadata, taxonomy updates, and internal linking rules into data models and pipelines
• Develop automated workflows to ingest, validate, and synchronize page data from catalog feeds and vendor systems
• Monitor service performance, set up alerts, and troubleshoot for high availability in eBay's high-traffic platform
• Ensure data integrity with schema validations, consistency checks, and versioning for millions of listings
• Collaborate with DevOps for deployments, container management, and resource optimization
• Optimize backend performance for throughput, low latency in page rendering and SEO crawls
• Implement data integrity checks, indexing, and partitioning for accurate eBay inventory records
• Mentor junior engineers on backend best practices and SEO-focused development
• Align engineering with cross-functional SEO initiatives supporting eBay's business KPIs

Required Qualifications

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
• 7+ years of experience designing and delivering complex backend services and/or data pipelines at scale
• Expert-level understanding of Data Structures, Algorithms, Object-Oriented Design, and software architecture principles
• Proven track record of production-grade coding in Java and Python/Scala
• Experience integrating advanced technologies in large-scale e-commerce environments
• Strong mentorship and collaboration skills with ability to influence technical direction
• Passion for technical excellence and leadership in engineering initiatives
• Experience with SEO platforms and high-volume marketplace data handling

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with containerized environments and DevOps automation
• Knowledge of schema design, caching strategies, and API scalability for SEO
• Background in e-commerce search optimization and taxonomy management
• Familiarity with monitoring tools, alerting systems, and performance optimization
