About the Role

eBay is seeking a Senior Manager, Data Science & Analytics – Search Product Analytics Lead in Bengaluru, India, to own the analytics function for its critical Search product. This role involves partnering with Search product and engineering teams, leveraging eBay’s vast data ecosystem from millions of buyers and sellers across 190+ markets to uncover insights, shape the Search roadmap, and drive customer-centric innovations in the global ecommerce marketplace. The position demands hands-on analytics expertise combined with strategic leadership to champion experimentation and influence long-term product strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the analytics leader for eBay’s Search product, setting the vision for data-driven decision-making
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Business teams to define success metrics and guide prioritization
  • Lead the end-to-end analytics roadmap for Search, from opportunity sizing to impact evaluation
  • Develop, implement, and interpret A/B tests and causal inference studies for Search experiences and ranking models
  • Translate complex analytical outcomes into actionable insights for non-technical audiences
  • Promote standard processes in experimental design, metric definition, and statistical rigor
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing analytics team with focus on career development
  • Partner with recruiting to attract and retain top analytical talent
  • Act as the analytics link between Search, Personalization, Ads, and Buyer Experience teams
  • Drive alignment across product areas for consistent measurement standards
  • Advocate for data democratization through intuitive reporting and self-serve tools
  • Enable rapid insight generation through automation and scalable experimentation pipelines

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in product analytics, data science, or experimentation roles
  • 2+ years leading analytics teams
  • Strong command of A/B testing design, causal inference, and experimentation measurement
  • Deep expertise in SQL, Python/R, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau)
  • Strong foundation in statistics, machine learning fundamentals, and data-driven hypothesis testing
  • Proven record of delivering insights that drive measurable business and product impact
  • Ability to translate data into actionable narratives and influence senior executives
  • Experience working in highly matrixed, cross-functional environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree or equivalent experience in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics)
  • Experience in Search, Ranking, or Personalization analytics within e-commerce or digital marketplaces
