Your role involves collaborating with product, design, and engineering teams to translate business priorities into high-quality, testable code, while championing TDD, CI/CD, and observability for fault-tolerant platforms. You'll participate in on-call rotations to ensure 24/7 reliability, conduct code reviews, and drive optimizations that push eBay's technical boundaries in global commerce. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop scalable, distributed, highly available backend systems for eBay’s global ecommerce marketplace
  • Own end-to-end software lifecycle for subsystems including design, development, testing, deployment, and monitoring
  • Write clean, efficient, production-ready code translating product requirements
  • Implement automated tests, Test-First Development, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Build microservices with strong performance, fault tolerance, and scalability
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to align tech with business goals
  • Conduct code reviews, maintain documentation, and enforce engineering best practices
  • Support release management, on-call rotations, and incident response for 24/7 platform reliability
  • Propose optimizations and drive continuous improvement in distributed systems
  • Build testable, measurable features for eBay’s data-driven marketplace enhancements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • 4+ years of backend software development experience building large-scale distributed web platforms and APIs
  • Strong Computer Science fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design
  • Proven experience with RDBMS, NoSQL, and ElasticSearch for data-driven applications
  • Hands-on expertise in Java, GraphQL, Spring/Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and messaging systems like Kafka or RabbitMQ
  • Experience delivering in Agile, TDD, and CI/CD environments
  • Demonstrated ability to build, deploy, and operate high-impact services in production

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems scalability
