Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain secure, reliable systems using various frontend and backend technologies for eBay's marketplace
  • Translate product and design requirements into clean, efficient, and maintainable code with test automations and TDD
  • Take full ownership of multiple subsystems within larger ecommerce domains, including design, development, testing, deployment
  • Evaluate and propose multiple design options, provide accurate estimates, and make technical tradeoffs aligned with long-term goals
  • Communicate effectively with product managers, designers, and engineers across teams for timely feature delivery
  • Conduct code reviews, maintain technical documentation, and advocate for testing, security, and maintainability guidelines
  • Build evidence-centered features that are testable, measurable, and improve quality and velocity in global commerce
  • Support releases and participate in on-call rotations to ensure 24/7 health and availability of eBay’s platform
  • Enhance marketplace performance, reliability, and delight for millions of buyers and sellers worldwide

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience developing and maintaining large-scale, distributed web platforms or APIs as a Full Stack or Backend Engineer
  • Skilled in constructing server-side components using Java, Spring Boot, or other contemporary backend frameworks
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven ability to design, implement, and operate production-quality systems with measurable impact on eBay's global ecommerce platform
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability in cross-functional team environments
  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills for collaborating with product managers, designers, and engineers
  • Committed to excellence, continuous improvement, and delivering customer value through technology in a 24/7 marketplace
