About the Role

eBay is seeking an experienced Software Engineer - Cloud SRE to join our Cloud Infrastructure team in Bengaluru, India, powering the world's leading e-commerce marketplace. In this role, you'll ensure the reliability and scalability of cloud-native platforms that support millions of buyers and sellers across 190+ markets. Leveraging deep expertise in Kubernetes, Go, and Python, you'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to build self-service tools for application lifecycle management, driving eBay's mission to reinvent global commerce through innovative, fault-tolerant infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal customers and partners to deliver key business outcomes for eBay's e-commerce platform
  • Ensure cloud products are reliable, scalable, efficient, and compliant with eBay's security and operational standards
  • Enhance observability practices for comprehensive monitoring and alerting across cloud services supporting marketplace operations
  • Respond to cloud incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Develop and maintain incident response plans for high-availability eBay services
  • Analyze system performance metrics and recommend improvements to optimize resource utilization
  • Implement changes to improve application performance in eBay's global infrastructure
  • Drive improvements in CI/CD processes to increase deployment velocity and reliability
  • Develop and maintain automation to streamline operations and reduce manual work
  • Enhance system reliability for self-service platforms managing eBay product lifecycles
  • Support scalability for millions of buyers and sellers across 190+ markets

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3+ years of programming experience with Go or Python
  • 5+ years of experience implementing large-scale, distributed, high-availability, fault-tolerant systems and infrastructure in production
  • Proficiency in delivering products within a multi-functional team environment
  • Demonstrated expertise in observability tools and practices for system reliability and performance
  • Extensive experience with Kubernetes as an SRE, including cloud-native technologies
  • Deep understanding of API design and RESTful principles with experience building web services at scale
  • Experience in production environments supporting high-traffic e-commerce platforms

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications in Kubernetes, lifecycle management or related fields
  • Understanding of application lifecycle management and CI/CD practices
  • Experience in high-traffic, large-scale e-commerce environments
  • Familiarity with additional programming languages or frameworks
  • Proficiency in Agile development methodologies
  • Experience contributing to open-source projects or standards
