About the Role

Join eBay's Engineering Systems Tools team in Mumbai as a Software Engineer, where you'll build and operate internal tooling that powers thousands of developers supporting eBay's global ecommerce platform across 190+ markets. Focused on enhancing developer productivity through automation and self-service, you'll work on core platforms like JIRA, GitHub Enterprise, Artifactory, and SonarQube, while modernizing infrastructure in multi-cloud environments (GCP, AWS, Azure) with Kubernetes and Terraform. This role is pivotal in reinventing ecommerce by ensuring scalable, resilient systems that enable seamless buying, selling, and community building at massive scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain full-stack internal tooling and platforms to boost engineering productivity in eBay's global ecommerce ecosystem
• Develop and support RESTful APIs, microservices, and front-end interfaces integrating with tools like JIRA, GitHub Enterprise, and Artifactory
• Operate and scale cloud-based infrastructure across GCP, AWS, and Azure for eBay's marketplace platforms
• Implement Kubernetes-based containerization workflows for service deployment and optimization
• Automate infrastructure using Terraform, Helm, and CI/CD pipelines to support eBay's high-scale developer operations
• Own full lifecycle of systems from requirements to post-release support for resilient ecommerce tooling
• Troubleshoot performance and reliability issues across distributed stacks powering eBay's buying and selling platforms
• Collaborate with SREs, product owners, and developers to enhance platform usability
• Contribute to architectural decisions, technical design reviews, and code reviews
• Support core platforms like Confluence, Gradle, SonarQube, and Airtable for eBay's engineering workflows
• Modernize multi-cloud environments to sustain eBay's 190+ market operations

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent in Computer Science or related field
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering and platform operations in large-scale enterprise environments
• Strong programming skills in Java with Spring Boot or similar frameworks
• Experience designing, deploying, and managing applications in Kubernetes and Docker environments
• Solid background in multi-cloud architecture across GCP, AWS, and Azure
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, Ansible
• Familiarity with developer tools including JIRA, GitHub, Artifactory, SonarQube
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills in distributed systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Front-end experience with React, Angular or similar
• Experience with monitoring/logging stacks like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK
• Ability to mentor junior team members
• Excellent communication skills across engineering domains
• Experience automating CI/CD pipelines with Helm
