Join eBay's Recommendations team in Bengaluru as a Software Engineer, ML Systems, where you'll build cutting-edge recommender systems powering personalized buyer experiences across eBay's global e-commerce platform. Serving millions of buyers and sellers in 190+ markets, you'll develop deep learning retrieval, machine-learned ranking models, and GenAI/LLM-powered recommendations that navigate eBay's vast inventory of billions of items. Leverage state-of-the-art ML, NLP, RAG, and AI technologies, integrating with Google GCP Vertex AI to deliver real-time recommendations on website and native apps, directly impacting marketplace Gross Merchandise Value (GMB) and advertising revenue. Work with massive unstructured multimodal datasets from eBay's inventory and user interactions, deploying large-scale data pipelines and advanced MLOps in a high-volume production environment. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy state-of-the-art AI models including deep learning retrieval systems for personalized recommendations
• Build machine learned ranking models for eBay's vast e-commerce inventory
• Integrate GenAI/LLM powered recommendations and RAG technologies into production systems
• Implement advanced MLOps in high-volume traffic industrial e-commerce settings
• Build production integrations with Google GCP Vertex AI platforms to enhance item recommendation algorithms
• Work with unique large datasets of unstructured multimodal data representing billions of eBay items and millions of users
• Deploy big data technology and large scale data pipelines using Spark and Hadoop
• Influence the evolution of eBay's recommender systems and buyer interactions
• Drive marketplace Gross Merchandise Value (GMB) and advertising revenue through organic and sponsored recommendations
• Collaborate with engineering and applied research teams to deliver real-time recommendations on website and app platforms

Required Qualifications

• MS in Computer Science or related area with 3 years of relevant work experience in Engineering / Machine Learning / AI
• BS/BA with 5 years of relevant work experience in Engineering / Machine Learning / AI
• Experience building large scale distributed applications
• Expertise in any OO language (Scala, Java, etc.)
• Experience building with NoSQL databases and key value stores (MongoDB, Redis, etc.)
• Generalist with a can-do attitude and willingness to learn/pick up new skill sets as needed

• Experience with big data pipelines (Hadoop, Spark)
• Experience in AI applied research and industrial recommendation systems
