About the Role

Join eBay's Risk team as a Sr. Software Engineer in Bengaluru, where you'll design and build cutting-edge distributed systems to protect millions of buyers and sellers across 190+ global markets. This role focuses on creating innovative products that detect suspicious patterns, analyze vast datasets, and counter emerging fraud threats in real-time, ensuring a secure ecommerce marketplace. Collaborate with architects, product teams, policy owners, compliance, and trust & safety to deliver high-security, high-availability solutions handling massive transaction volumes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build distributed systems with high security, high transaction rates, and high availability for eBay's Risk platform
  • Collaborate with architects to define the technical charter for eBay’s Risk products mitigating fraud in the global marketplace
  • Work with partners to clarify requirements and deliver innovative business solutions against emerging threats
  • Champion standard software development methodologies, including AI-assisted code development and delivery
  • Develop products that identify suspicious patterns and analyze data to protect eBay buyers and sellers
  • Collaborate closely with global partners in product, policy, compliance, and trust & safety teams
  • Respond to emerging fraud threats in eBay's ecommerce platform serving 190+ markets
  • Optimize systems for high transaction volumes in a real-time ecommerce environment
  • Improve system performance and resolve bottlenecks in distributed Risk infrastructure
  • Build scalable applications ensuring a safe and secure marketplace for millions of users

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience
  • At least 5 years of software development experience
  • Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and software design
  • Hands-on experience in Java, Node.js, C++, or another object-oriented language for building scalable applications
  • Experience developing data-driven applications using industry-standard RDBMS and NoSQL databases
  • Proven experience resolving bottlenecks and improving system performance
  • Experience solving issues in large-scale distributed systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent knowledge of architectural and design patterns, open-source platforms, and frameworks
  • Experience championing AI in code development and delivery methodologies
  • Abundant knowledge of high-security, high-availability distributed systems
  • Demonstrated success in e-commerce or marketplace risk and fraud prevention systems
