Position Summary
Sonoco seeks a skilled Electrical Technician for our Richmond, VA facility. Earn $36.14/hr on day shift (1st shift) while ensuring the reliability of electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems in our paper mill and power plant. This role demands a Journeyman Electrician card, high voltage experience, and expertise in industrial controls. Excel in a fast-paced environment with excellent attendance, teamwork, and hands-on problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain integrity of plant electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems through advanced installation, diagnosis, calibration, and repair.
- Troubleshoot PLCs, DCS/QCS, UPS, AC/DC drives, scanners, and ignition systems.
- Ensure EPA/DHEC compliance for instrumentation and radiation equipment.
- Support Electric Shop with outages, projects, emergency repairs, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
- Document accurately and assist in planning for specialized equipment.
Required Qualifications
- MUST HAVE JOURNEYMAN ELECTRICIAN CARD and HIGH VOLTAGE experience.
- Associate Degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or 5+ years industrial E&I experience.
- Proficiency in computer controls software, MS Office, and electrical diagrams (P&ID, wiring, loop sheets).
- Strong communication, multitasking, and independent work skills in high-pressure settings.
