Position Summary
Sonoco is seeking a skilled Industrial Electrician/Instrumentation Tech at our President Island facility in Memphis, TN. Reporting to the Plant Engineer, you'll ensure high equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and support optimal plant performance. This full-time role offers competitive wages from $34.90/hour (Level 1) to $47.29/hour (Level 8) based on experience, with night shifts including 11P-7A or continental 12-hour 7P-7A (3-2-2 schedule).
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct preventive maintenance on schedules (daily, weekly, monthly).
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment, including PLC, HMI, and electrical systems.
- Complete detailed work orders, manage storeroom parts inventory.
- Drive continuous improvement to boost reliability and eliminate breakdowns.
- Inspect equipment safety, verify guards and devices, and adhere to energy isolation protocols.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of industrial/commercial electrician experience.
- Journeyman or Industrial Electrician License required within 6 months.
- Proficiency in PLC/HMI troubleshooting, reading electrical prints, and job layouts.
- Preferred: Pneumatic/hydraulic experience, welding, oxy-acetylene torch use.
- Physical ability to lift 50 pounds; vocational training a plus.
