Position Summary
Join Sonoco in Merced, CA as an Electro Mechanic on the 2nd shift (3:30pm - 12:00am, Monday-Friday, with overtime and Saturdays possible). Training starts on 1st shift for about 1 month. Earn $25.63-$38.94/hour based on experience, plus $0.40 shift premium. Reporting to the facility and maintenance operation manager, you'll support second shift maintenance operations, troubleshoot equipment and process issues, and schedule work orders and projects in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Process Development and Advance Manufacturing Engineering teams to enhance manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Repair electrical equipment/systems, control circuits, Three Phase Motors, and PLC applications; replace faulty components.
- Apply strong understanding of NFPA 70E standards in all work situations.
- Install electrical wiring, equipment, new services, and repair wiring including computer cables.
- Manage work orders and scheduling via enterprise asset management system.
- Perform minor/major repairs on buildings, equipment, bundlers, machine parts, and fabricate dies.
- Assist in reducing downtime and improving quality through technical support.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years manufacturing experience.
- AS Degree or equivalent in Electronics, Electrical Controls, or Industrial Engineering/Technology (preferred).
- Expertise in PLC ladder logic troubleshooting, AC/DC servo drives, stepper motors, VFDs.
- Hands-on electrical and mechanical troubleshooting; must own tools.
- Experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens highly desirable.
- Configuration/programming experience a plus.
- Excellent professional and interpersonal skills.
