Join Datadog as our first Employee Relation Specialist - Workplace Investigations in New York, New York. You'll manage end-to-end investigations across the U.S. and Americas, partnering with People Business Partners and Employment Counsel to deliver fair, consistent outcomes. This hybrid role (3 days in-office) lets you shape global ER processes in a high-growth tech environment powered by observability, DevOps, and cloud-native technologies.

Key Responsibilities at Datadog

  • Conduct thorough, impartial investigations into employee complaints, misconduct, and concerns across Americas (global cases as needed).
  • Manage full case lifecycle: intake, triage, scoping, interviewing, documentation, closeout.
  • Partner with People Business Partners and Employment Counsel for risk assessment and consistent practices.
  • Analyze ER trends and metrics to drive proactive risk mitigation in our cloud-scale environment.
  • Stay current on federal, state, local employment laws; align global ER standards.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally on policies, performance management, and manager capability-building.
  • Create global-ready resources: case tools, reporting standards, documentation.
  • Mentor People Compliance team as we expand to support Datadog's growth.
  • Support high-growth tech teams using observability for seamless employee experiences.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 5-7+ years HR experience, with 2+ years in U.S. employee relations or investigations.
  • Proven handling of complex, high-risk cases with discretion and empathy.
  • Strong investigative skills: interviewing, analysis, fact-finding.
  • Deep U.S. employment law knowledge (multi-state/global preferred).
  • Process-minded builder of scalable ER infrastructure.
  • Expert written communication for defensible reports.
  • Familiarity with Workday, compliance in accommodations, performance.
  • Compassionate communicator who influences stakeholders.
