Role Overview

The Engineer II: Bakeries Technical and Engineering role at PepsiCo's Cape Town HQ is pivotal for operational excellence in the bakeries division. Key Responsibilities

Asset Care and Maintenance Strategy

Develop and implement maintenance policies, strategies, and systems, including value-added preventive maintenance tasks. Act as the engineering gatekeeper for maintenance schedules, conducting regular audits like PeMM and Anchor to ensure suitability and effectiveness.

Performance Improvement

Drive reductions in unscheduled and scheduled downtime, speed losses, and breakdowns to enhance TE/NE performance. Provide technical leadership for reliability improvements, root cause analysis (RCA), and technical investigations. Support bakery maintenance managers with projects, including major shutdowns and machine installations.

Projects and Optimization

Enable process optimization through equipment upgrades, modifications, and latest technology adoption for quality and throughput gains. Support short- and long-term capital planning and execution. Develop engineering solutions for repetitive failures impacting capacity, quality, cost, or compliance.

Finance and Compliance

Assist with annual OPEX budget, monthly forecasts, and key performance metrics aligned with pep+. Ensure a safe working environment compliant with PepsiCo EHS, MESS, L2O targets, and legal requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements

Candidates need a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, with at least 5-7 years of experience in plant maintenance, preferably in bakeries or food manufacturing.
